Instructor Rating SystemGeneral InformationAs a Christian organization, we emphasize development of all three points of contact with life as illustrated on the BBFI Crest: the mind, the body, and the spirit. Our Instructor Rating System encourages growth in all three areas. We are therefore able to give you credit for a broader range of experience and training to produce better-qualified martial arts instructors. Our rating structure awards a point value for various life experiences as indicated below. Upon registration, you will be asked to complete an Instructor Rating Worksheet for consideration of the Testing Board.

In addition to the experiences above, Instructor ratings are based on the applicant’s current rank, length of time in current rank, age, technical knowledge of the material appropriate to their rank, and a philosophy essay. Similar to the rank advancement in most martial arts, our instructor rating system has a total of nine levels. Specific requirements have been established for each rating level. Periodic reviews are conducted to consider applicant’s eligibility for advancement. Should you be interested in learning more of the requirements for each level rating, we will be happy to provide you with a copy of the “Instructor Rating Levels” guidelines. These guidelines explain minimum rank requirements for each of the nine levels of rating. While there may be an occasional cause for exception, the general requirements for Assistant, Head, and Chief Instructors have been established.
