Membership Package - Part “B”

 

1)       By submitting an application for BBFI membership (Student, Full, Charter, and/or Executive), the applicant agrees to the following the terms and conditions.  Membership is only valid for applicants who accept these terms without alteration.

 

2)       As BBFI is a Christian organization, it is understood that by being a member or affiliate of BBFI, I will be exposed to articles, promotional materials, and publications that will often have a “Christian” theme or message.  It is understood that while membership does not require me to be a Christian, BBFI caters specifically to the needs of Christian Martial Artists.  I realize that if I find such material offensive, I should not apply to such an organization.

 

3)       In effort to promote a professional image of BBFI, I will conduct myself professionally so as to reflect positively on myself, my school, and BBFI.  While wearing BBFI’s apparel/accessories (sweatshirts, patches, etc.), discussing my affiliation with BBFI, and attending a martial arts function, I will maintain a testimony consistent with that of a professional martial artist and a Christian.

 

4)       At times, BBFI publications may provide names, addresses, and other information about fellow members.  Contact is only permitted between members if there is:  a) Mutual consent to the discussion; b) No intent to solicit or offer goods and services for a fee; c) No intent to discredit another BBFI member, interfere with another member’s method of instruction, or lure students from another BBFI school.

 

5)       In case of disagreement between BBFI members, it is understood that as Biblically directed, the offended party must first privately address the offender to seek restitution for any wrongdoing.  If not resolved satisfactorily, the matter should be brought to BBFI staff for discussion.  A proposed resolution will be provided by BBFI, to which the two parties must comply.  Non-compliance may be cause for termination of membership for one or both parties, as deemed appropriate by BBFI.  If the root of the problem is found to be inappropriate behavior or lifestyle by a fellow member, immediate termination will be exercised without refund of membership fees.  Reinstatement must be at a minimum of 24 months from the date of termination, subject to acceptance by BBFI staff.

 

6)       BBFI reserves the right to refuse membership to anyone based on what the staff defines as “irreconcilable differences”.  If the personal beliefs of an applicant are considered by the staff as inappropriate and problematic, membership may be refused without recourse or reconsideration as it is not in the interest of either party to pursue the relationship.

 

7)       On occasion, there may be an explanation of a technique or other physical activity.  It is understood that BBFI is a consulting firm offering services of certification and examines the performance of members for rank promotion.  Therefore, prior to participating in any event related to routine practice, competition, or test, it is advised to seek professional advice from a qualified individual (instructor or medical doctor as appropriate). 

 

8)       As BBFI is a consulting firm, any injury resulting from my participation in martial arts is in no way the fault of BBFI; therefore, BBFI is not responsible for any injury suffered by my training in the arts.  By submitting my application for membership, I waive my right to legal recourse for any damages (liquid or otherwise) caused by such an injury.

 

9)       I am presently involved in a Christian martial arts ministry, or in the development of setting up a martial arts program for witnessing.  For clarification, this statement implies that the instruction of martial arts is either actively or passively engaged in evangelistic ministry by the use and instruction of martial arts.  For clarification, “Active Evangelistic Ministry” is defined as a formal school that meets at a church, and is a ministry of the church; “Passive Evangelistic Ministry” is defined as a school that maintains a Christian testimony but is not officially affiliated with a church (recreation center, private property, commercial storefront).

 

10)   I understand that I must remain an active BBFI member for a minimum of six full months, before I am eligible to test for my next Black Belt Degree rank. 

 

11)   Upon enrollment of new students, I will discuss the benefits of applying for BBFI membership.  I will allow students to choose their membership type or exercise their right not to apply for any BBFI membership. 

 

12)   Upon submittal of my application, I understand that I will be granted thirty calendar days to provide all required documentation as applicable (i.e. Signed Membership Application, Black Belt Certificate, Instructor Certification, and Instructor Rating Worksheet).  If all required documentation is not received by BBFI within thirty days of my application, I will be considered an Inactive Member until all documentation is on file.

 

13)   Inactive students are ineligible for rank promotion and instructor certification.  Reinstatement to “Active” status will only occur after all required documentation is on file, and a $9.95 reinstatement fee is paid in addition to the membership renewal fee.

 

14)   I understand BBFI will make an effort to remind me of my upcoming membership expiration; however, it is my responsibility to renew prior to expiration.  There is a thirty-day grace period to renew without additional fee.  If I fail to renew during that period, I will be subject to the $9.95 reinstatement fee and the renewal fee at its rate at that time.
